Learning to Lead A Healthier Life

It’s something I’ve been trying to do for some time now and have never succeeded.

One of my many goals for the new year was to lose weight and to lead a healthier life, I wasn’t too sure how I was going to do that in the beginning. Since starting to work at 37,000ft its given me a new look on life and being prone to so much more has helped spur me on to leading a much healthier lifestyle.

Now I’m not going to go too crazy and miss out on the important stuff like alcohol and the odd packet of crisps here and there, but when I say healthier lifestyle, I mean, I already eat healthy and it’s an aim to continue to do so, but I mean by getting my fitness up and toning areas of my body, taking the correct vitamins and helping my body keep fit, strong and most importantly, being at least 95% healthy (except on those hangover days, something I need to work on).

The ACV looks disgusting I know, and it is. You can get different flavoured ones to start with, I got grapefruit, but trust me, it still tastes like shit.

Being up in the air isn’t easy when you’re trying to be healthy and you’re prone to so much more illnesses, and the shift work means you don’t really have any kind of pattern, I’ve researched so much and took a trip to Holland and Barrett to get a few supplements recommended for me and some apple cider vinegar (see more about this below) which I did a lot of research on.

I planned in my diary for when I need to go to thy gym and what I’m eating for tea. After trying many of times I came to realise that I can’t cook to save my life (I’m also a fairly fussy eater) and I find it hard to create different healthy options for myself that isn’t just chicken and veg, I literally could eat it every night, but it’s not ideal for all the nutrition I need and I think after a while even though it isn’t at the minuet, it will get boring so with a plan this should help prevent this and with a little (more like a lot) of help from my mum my dinners will be nutritious and delish.

Like this relish spinach and kale pasta with a little parmesan my mum cooked for tea last night, (you might have seen it on my @hannahcorkhill Instagram story) to die for.

To kick off my new healthy routine, as mentioned earlier, I took a trip to Holland and Barrett, specifically to get some of this and last year’s health hot topic, apple cider vinegar. I had a mooch around too and found some vitamin B complex and some Burt’s Bees peppermint, beeswax and vitamin E lip balm. But to kick it all off, why the hell have I spent money on vinegar to shot before meals?! Well, being the crazy person I am, you’ve probably heard or seen the immense possible benefits this can have for you but if not, let me name a few…

I’m hoping by combining the 2 great supplements together I should see some results.

Enhances weight loss and helps you feel more full

Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid, which is responsible for some of its beneficial effects including enhancing weight loss. It helps to keep you fuller for longer and decreases your daily calorie intake.

Lowers cholesterol

The acetic acid in vinegar can help reduce cholesterol although like many other claims, it is not had the publicity and enough usage to prove this just yet

Improves blood pressure

By breaking down fat and phlegm deposits in the body, apple cider vinegar aids in better circulation and lower pressure against the arterial walls.

Boosts your gut

Apple cider vinegar is a prebiotic and will boost your gut by maintaining the good Bactria in there.

There are endless benefits to this and a quick shot 2X a day before lunch and dinner – though disgusting and cringe worthy, the endless amount of good it does weighs out the one minuet of bad taste. It also helps with a load more external stuff like acne, cleaning and bad smells. I’m still new to this product but am excited to see the results in a few months. Buy it HERE.

Vitamin B complex, something which my mum has been telling me to take for so long now. Vitamin B complex tablets helps the body create healthy cells, process anti stress properties (needed), boosts your immune system, and is essential for the break down in simple carbs. Which is why I also bought some of these on my trip to H&B, there is loads of research of this on the internet so check it out.

Like I said earlier, I bought some Burt’s Bees lip balm too. I have been using Carmex for some time now and think that a healthier life doesn’t just consist of vitamins and supplements that benefit you internally it’s also *cringe*, how you feel on the outside and so switched from my Carmex not because there is anything wrong with it, I just fancied a change and a stick is so much easier (it was also on offer).

My skin is another component to a healthy lifestyle and is something I have always been so conscious of and really taken care of more than anything else, especially my face so I have made some changes to my skin routine and the products I’m using and so far, it feels so good, I will be posting a day / night routine soon which will include the skin products I use and why, so that’s something to keep an eye out for as well as my extension to ‘ a healthier lifestyle’ which will include my fitness routine and my gym playlist.

This stuff is honestly so moisturising

So hopefully this post hasn’t bored you too much as I know sometimes lifestyle and health can be so boring in a long blog post, but it’s something I now see as important and I hope it’s helped some of you, if you like these kind of posts, this on in particular, and are looking forward to my new posts I mentioned earlier, give my blog a like and follow my Instagram @hannahcorkhill.
